DIOCESAN C.B.I.U MEMBERS CELEBRATE ANNUAL FEAST OF ST. BENEDICT AT HOLY TRINITY CATHEDRAL, ORLU
Members of the Catholic Bible Instructors Union (C.B.I.U.) of Orlu Diocese gathered on Saturday, 11 July 2026, at Holy Trinity Cathedral Parish, Orlu, to celebrate their annual feast in honour of St. Benedict, the Patron Saint of the association.
The celebration commenced with the Holy Eucharist, during which members thanked God for His abundant blessings and sought the intercession of St. Benedict as they renewed their commitment to the apostolate of evangelization through the study and proclamation of the Word of God. The Holy Mass also provided an opportunity for the members to reflect on their vocation as witnesses of Christ and faithful promoters of Catholic doctrine.
Following the Eucharistic celebration, members proceeded to the Church Pavilion where they held their annual meeting. The gathering afforded them the opportunity to review the activities of the association, strengthen the bonds of fraternity among members, and deliberate on strategies for advancing the mission of the Union within the Diocese.
The day’s activities were centred on sustaining and promoting the aims and objectives of the Catholic Bible Instructors Union, which are rooted in Christ’s Great Commission: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19–20; cf. Luke 24:46–48).
The Union remains committed to:
- Training both members and non-members to become obedient, truthful, humble, honest, and convinced Christians who faithfully uphold the Catholic faith.
- Proclaiming the Good News of God’s Kingdom and the salvation of humanity while calling all people to repentance, in accordance with Christ’s command (Mark 1:15).
- Encouraging the reading, study, sharing, and preaching of the Holy Scriptures, the enduring manual for Christian life.
- Bringing back, through the light of God’s Word, those who have strayed from the Church.
- Teaching and correcting those who are unfamiliar with the doctrines of the Catholic Church while strengthening Catholics in their faith.
- Equipping both Catholics and non-Catholics with a sound knowledge of Sacred Scripture, Sacred Tradition, and the authentic teachings of the Catholic Church.
The annual feast once again reaffirmed the commitment of the Catholic Bible Instructors Union to evangelization, catechesis, and the formation of faithful disciples of Christ. Inspired by the example of St. Benedict, the members resolved to continue serving the Church with zeal, fidelity, and an unwavering dedication to the proclamation of the Gospel.
