A Legacy of Excellence in Diocesan Printing

Nwannegadi Trinity Press (N-Trinity Press) is the official printing press of the Catholic Diocese of Orlu and one of the enduring fruits of the Diocese’s commitment to communication, evangelization, documentation, and public service. Established to serve the printing and publishing needs of the Diocese, the press has grown from a bold diocesan vision into a functional and professional printing institution serving ecclesiastical, administrative, educational, and public communication needs.

The story of N-Trinity Press is one of vision, sacrifice, innovation, and steady growth. It reflects the foresight of diocesan leadership, the dedication of priests who managed its growth, the commitment of its staff, and the continuing desire of the Diocese to strengthen its communication apostolate through quality printing and publishing.

Historical Development

Nwannegadi Trinity Press, popularly known as N-Trinity Press, was founded in 2007 by Rev. Fr. Maurice Emelu under the episcopal leadership of His Excellency, Most Rev. Gregory Ochiagha, Bishop of Orlu. Inspired and supported by Bishop Ochiagha’s pastoral vision for a diocesan press, Fr. Emelu established N-Trinity Press as a structured instrument of evangelization, communication, and printing service for the Diocese. As Editor of The Forum Newspaper and pioneer Managing Director of the Press, he gave institutional form to that vision by creating a diocesan printing press capable of supporting the newspaper and meeting the wider printing needs of the Diocese.

In 2007, Fr. Emelu registered N-Trinity Press with the Corporate Affairs Commission, giving the press its formal legal identity. Around this foundational period, the first Kord machine came through Germany through the contacts of Fr. Eugene Dike. Fr. Emelu cleared the machine from customs and installed it, and at the same time purchased another Kord machine, so that the press began operations with two Kord machines.

He also raised funds for the press and purchased essential equipment, including digital printing machines, a guillotine cutting machine, and the first batch of modern computers needed for press operations. In addition, he created office spaces for the first group of printing press workers, giving the new institution both the technical and administrative structure it needed to function.

By 2008, Fr. Emelu had established full press operations and started printing books, stationery, posters, and the Forum Newspapers in the diocesan press. What began with only two employees expanded under his leadership into a fully functioning diocesan printing press with a staff strength of about thirty-two workers. He also purchased the first official car for N-Trinity Press and acquired a bus to support press operations, distribution, and other diocesan printing work. This period marked the true institutional beginning of N-Trinity Press as a structured diocesan printing establishment.

By 2008, Fr. Emelu had further strengthened the press by fundraising for and acquiring a computer-to-plate digital imaging machine, with support from an Orlu diocesan layman, Eze Festus Odimegwu as the request of Bihsop Gregory Ochiagha. At the time, it was the first CTP digital machine in the eastern part of Nigeria, significantly improving the press’s technical capacity and positioning it for more modern printing operations.

The press began its operations at St. Mulumba Hall within the Cathedral premises. Though the facilities were modest, the vision was clear: to create a sustainable diocesan press capable of supporting the Church’s mission through professional printing, publishing, and information dissemination.

Following Fr. Maurice Emelu’s pioneering leadership, Bishop Augustine Ukwuoma reassigned him to the United States for advanced studies in communication and appointed Fr. Cyriacus Uzochukwu to take over the management of N-Trinity Press. Under Fr. Uzochukwu’s stewardship, and inspired by Bishop Ukwuoma’s leadership, the press continued to grow and consolidate its operations. He built a permanent factory-standard storey complex for the press, with offices on the upper floor and the printing press and deck on the ground floor. This development made it possible to relocate the press and its equipment from St. Mulumba Hall at the Diocesan Secretariat to its permanent site, marking an important stage in the institution’s growth.

Fr. Uzochukwu also created improved workspaces for staff, strengthened the communication arm connected with The Forum Newspaper, and expanded the services of the press to include the publication of diocesan bulletins. The relocation of the press from St. Mulumba Hall to the Archangel Gabriel Media Centre provided a more stable and conducive environment for its work. The new facility housed both N-Trinity Press and The Forum Newspaper, giving diocesan communication and printing services a stronger operational base.

Subsequently, Fr. Kenneth Obialisi assumed leadership after Rev. Fr. Cyriacus Uzochukwu. His tenure helped sustain the press and ensure that it remained responsive to the needs of the Diocese.

In 2021, a significant administrative restructuring took place. N-Trinity Press and The Forum Newspaper, which had previously functioned together, were separated and granted independent leadership structures. This decision enabled each institution to focus more clearly on its specific mission and operational goals.

Following this separation, Fr. Reuben Nnadozie became the first Manager of the autonomous N-Trinity Press. His appointment opened a new phase of progress, modernization, and improved service delivery. Among the notable achievements under his leadership is the installation of a solar power system, which provides a reliable and cost-effective source of energy for the press. This has improved operational efficiency and reduced dependence on public electricity supply.

A Toyota Sienna vehicle was also acquired to facilitate the distribution of the diocesan bulletin and ensure prompt delivery of printing jobs to clients. This investment strengthened the logistical capacity of the press and improved its service outreach.

Committed to sustaining high standards in printing services, Fr. Nnadozie has continued to improve the capacity of the press. Through his cordial relationship and collaboration with Fr. Maurice Emelu, the press successfully acquired a new 40KVA soundproof generator as well as an additional Kord machine. These acquisitions have greatly enhanced productivity and supported uninterrupted operations.

From its formal founding in 2007, its registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission, and its early operations at St. Mulumba Hall, to its present location at the Archangel Gabriel Media Centre, N-Trinity Press has journeyed through years of growth and transformation. The sacrifices and contributions of visionary diocesan leaders, dedicated priest-managers, generous supporters, and hardworking staff have made the press what it is today.

As N-Trinity Press looks to the future, it remains committed to excellence, innovation, and service. It continues its mission of giving voice to the Church through quality printing and publishing while upholding the values of professionalism, integrity, truth, and dedication.

Today, N-Trinity Press stands as a symbol of resilience, innovation, and excellence in diocesan communication and printing services.
