JDPC
Justice, Development and Peace Commission
The Justice, Development and Peace Commission (JDPC) of the Catholic Diocese of Orlu serves as the organized charitable, social development, and justice arm of the Diocese. In many ways, its work reflects what Catholic Charities does in other parts of the world: caring for the poor and vulnerable, promoting human dignity, supporting community development, defending justice, and responding to the social and material needs of God’s people. Through collaboration with parishes, Catholic organizations, nonprofit partners, community groups, and people of goodwill, JDPC helps the Diocese bring the compassion of Christ to families, communities, and individuals in need.
Rooted in the Gospel call to serve Christ in the hungry, the thirsty, the stranger, the sick, and the imprisoned (Matthew 25:35-40), JDPC expresses the Church’s commitment to charity, justice, peace, and integral human development. Guided by Catholic social teaching, especially Rerum Novarum, Gaudium et Spes, Caritas in Veritate, and Laudato Si’, the Commission works to ensure that evangelization is joined with practical love, human development, and concern for the common good. In the Diocese of Orlu, JDPC is vital to the Church’s mission because it makes visible the Gospel of mercy, strengthens the Church’s service to society, and helps build communities where human dignity is respected and the poor are not forgotten.
