Mary League Girls
Mary League Girls
The Mary League Girls in the Diocese of Orlu and across the Owerri Ecclesiastical Province are a vibrant community of unmarried Catholic teenage girls and young adult women committed to growing in faith, purity, service, discipline, leadership, and devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. As the future mothers, leaders, professionals, religious, and witnesses of the Church, they are formed to love Christ, serve the Church, respect their dignity, and live as joyful examples of Catholic womanhood in society. Their identity is rooted in the example of Mary, who answered God with faith and courage: “Let it be done to me according to your word” (Luke 1:38). It is also reflected in the witness of young women in Scripture, such as Mary of Bethany, who sat at the feet of Jesus to listen to his word, and the young women who followed and served the Lord.

In the spirit of the Church’s teaching on the formation of young people, especially Christus Vivit, Apostolicam Actuositatem, and Lumen Gentium, the Mary League Girls are encouraged to discover their vocation, participate actively in parish life, and become missionary disciples. The Diocese of Orlu values this group deeply because the future growth of the Church depends on the faith formation, moral strength, leadership, and spiritual maturity of its young people. Through the Mary League Girls, the Church nurtures a new generation of Catholic women who will sustain families, strengthen parishes, serve society, and bear faithful witness to Christ.
