Today, April 26, 2026, the Catholic Bishop of Orlu, Most Rev. Augustine Ukwuoma, paid a pastoral visit to St. Mary’s Catholic Parish, Obodoukwu, where he administered the Sacrament of Confirmation to 151 candidates.

The celebration began with a solemn procession from the rectory. In his introductory remarks, Bishop Ukwuoma said Good Shepherd Sunday calls all Christians to responsible leadership in families, communities and society.

In his homily, the bishop reflected on Christ as the Good Shepherd and urged the faithful to imitate him through courage, care and attentiveness. He reminded parents to be present in the lives of their children and to take active part in their education and formation.

Addressing the confirmation candidates, Bishop Ukwuoma said the Christian life is lived through faith in God and good deeds. He then administered the Sacrament of Confirmation to the candidates.

After Holy Communion, the bishop presented certificates to winners of the parish quiz competition. St. Paul’s, Dim Omere, took first place at the station level, while Onyemaechi Emmanuel took first place at the individual level.

The parish priest, Fr. Michael Anyasoro, thanked the bishop for visiting the parish. The parish secretary, Mrs. Eunice Akubueze, welcomed him and highlighted parish achievements, including two priestly ordinations, renovation of the parish rectory and repainting of the CWO hall.

Bishop Ukwuoma thanked the parishioners for their warm welcome and commended their active participation in the pastoral region and the Diocese. The celebration ended with his fatherly blessing and a photo session with the priests and newly confirmed.
