The Church’s apostolic mission is to bear witness to Christ in every dimension of human life. Christ sent his disciples to proclaim the Gospel to all nations (Mt 28:19–20), to teach, to heal, to serve, and to care for the poor and the vulnerable. In his own ministry, Jesus taught the crowds, healed the sick, fed the hungry, welcomed children, and restored human dignity (Lk 4:18–19; Mt 25:35–40; Mk 10:13–16).
In this spirit, the Diocese of Orlu carries out her mission not only through parishes and statutory organizations, but also through institutions that serve the integral development of the human person. These institutions make the Church present in the daily lives of God’s people. They support education, healthcare, pastoral formation, communication, charity, economic empowerment, publishing, technology training, and social development across parishes and throughout the diocese.
The Church teaches that evangelization includes the promotion of human dignity, justice, education, health, and the common good. The Second Vatican Council affirms that the joys and hopes, griefs and anxieties of the people of this age are also the joys and hopes, griefs and anxieties of the followers of Christ (Gaudium et Spes, 1). The Church also recognizes education, healthcare, social service, and communication as important expressions of her pastoral and evangelizing mission (Gravissimum Educationis, 1; Inter Mirifica, 3; Apostolicam Actuositatem, 8).
In Orlu, these institutions help the Church bear witness to Christ by improving lives, strengthening communities, and serving society. Through them, the Church remains close to the people: teaching the young, caring for the sick, forming minds and hearts, communicating truth, supporting families, and promoting human flourishing.
In Orlu, among these institutions include:
- Schools
- Hospitals
- Pastoral Centre
- The Forum Newspaper
- N-Trinity Press
- Ozioma Radio
- Caritas Trinity Bookshop
- Domus Clero
- Computer Academy
- Nwannegadi Micro Finance Bank
Through these institutions, the Diocese of Orlu continues the compassionate and saving mission of Christ. They are signs of the Church’s presence among her people and instruments through which faith becomes service, evangelization becomes witness, and pastoral care becomes concrete support for the dignity and development of every person.
