Ezinna Fidelis Ajawara Celebrates 94th Birthday at Domus Clero
Ezinna Fidelis Ajawara celebrated his 94th birthday April 24, 2026, with retired priests at Domus Clero, surrounded by his wife, Ezinne Juliana Ajawara, children, grandchildren, priests and well-wishers.
The celebration began with Mass at 11 a.m. Very Rev. Fr. Hilary Mbachu presided, with Fr. Emmanuel Onyekamma, director of Domus Clero, Fr. Christopher Ihenetu and other priests concelebrating.
In his introductory remarks, Fr. Mbachu said the gathering was an act of thanksgiving to God for the gift of long life granted to Ajawara. He described him as one of the pillars of the Church in Umuowa and a faithful Catholic who has served the Church with dedication. He prayed that God would continue to bless him and his family with grace.
In his homily, Fr. Mbachu reflected on the perseverance of the disciples and the spread of the Gospel. He also spoke about St. Fidelis of Sigmaringen, a courageous defender of the faith and the patron saint whose name Ajawara bears. He said Ajawara has contributed greatly to the growth of the Church in Umuowa and has shown his faith through a life of devotion, including his regular attendance at morning Mass.

After the post-Communion prayer, the congregation sang a birthday song for Ajawara, accompanied by piano and saxophone.
Fr. Onyekamma thanked Ajawara for choosing to celebrate his birthday at Domus Clero. He also thanked the priests and guests who came to honor him and congratulated Ajawara and his wife on the occasion.
In his remarks, Ajawara thanked the priests for celebrating with him on his 94th birthday. He said he chose Domus Clero because the retired priests there had labored faithfully for the growth of the Church in Orlu Diocese.
โThose who have fought for the faith in Orlu Diocese are here,โ he said. โYour works are not forgotten, and God knows how to reward you.โ
After his remarks, the priests present extended their hands in prayer for Ezinna Fidelis Ajawara and his wife, Ezinne Juliana Ajawara. Photo sessions followed with the celebrant, priests and family members.
A reception was held afterward in the priestsโ refectory. Sir Jude Ajawara, KSM, offered a toast in honor of his father, thanking God for the gift of longevity. The celebrant then cut his birthday cake, followed by refreshments.
In his closing remarks, Ajawara thanked the priests and guests for their presence and expressed his joy at the celebration. The event ended in gratitude to God for his life, faith and witness.
